Alban Henderson joined Walsingham Planning in August 2022 as Director in our Bristol office. He has over 15 years consultancy experience, having previously worked for GL Hearn and DLP in Bristol. Alban also has significant public sector experience, having worked for West Berkshire, Swindon and Havering Councils in a variety of policy and development management roles prior to moving into planning consultancy.
He has a breadth of experience across a number of development sectors, acting for both private and public sector clients, with a particular emphasis on strategic policy and development advice within residential, town-centre and retail sectors.
His recent track record includes advising on major affordable housing projects in Oxford; residential site promotion especially within the Midlands and South-West regions; major mixed-use town centre regeneration schemes in Somerset and Wiltshire; and out-of-centre retail, F&B and food store proposals in the Midlands and South Wales.
Alban is experienced in co-ordinating and leading consultancy teams, and his strategic policy and development management experience is underpinned by a commercially focused approach, backed by strong policy analysis and evidence assessment skills.
His experience includes acting as expert witness at planning inquiries and Local Plan examinations, and instructing Counsel.
Away from work Alban spends much of his time ferrying his children around, working through an ever-extending list of house repairs – often with a mildly eclectic 1980s soundtrack playing in the background, and searching for reasons to continue supporting Stoke City Football Club.
