Walsingham Planning has achieved outline planning permission and reserved matters consent for up to 64 private and affordable houses at a site in Oxfordshire.
The site was designated by the Council for employment use, but a window of opportunity had opened up where the Council was willing to consider all appropriate sites for housing, due to a sustained period of poor housing land supply. In order to secure the principle of development whilst this window existed, we advised pursuing an outline planning consent which could then be supplemented with later reserved matters permissions.
The site lay at the edge of an established small town and public consultation with local residents was therefore critical to the success of the proposal. Liaison with the Parish Council helped to highlight key local issues, which were then addressed in the planning application submission and later negotiations as applicable.
Permission was secured for the development, delivering an excellent result to our client, an attractive addition to the area’s housing stock and assisting the Council to move towards meeting its housing supply targets.
